Visual Art

This video shows a piece of art from each student through August to December. In our art we explored a wider range of materials, art terms and techniques. We discussed words such as printmaking, shape, texture contrast, lines and patterns. We learnt watercolour techniques. We celebrated different cultures, social occasions and renowned artists. We enjoyed mixing paints to learn value in colour, experimenting with white to make it lighter and black to make it darker. We explored form in our clay animals, and texture by adding dots and shading in our “If Dino Came Back”. We celebrated Cambodian Heritage with our Angkor Wat sunset and many other projects! Hope you enjoy our video!

Grade 2 Arts Extravaganza

Music

This term, students focused on continuing to find and keep a steady beat, the difference between beat and rhythm, call and response in singing and instrument playing, using food to represent different rhythmic patterns, the instruments of the orchestra, listening to music to determine how it makes us feel and listening for tempo (the speed of music). They also did a unit on concert etiquette and created a guide video for the entire CIS community to watch before the Royal Cambodian Ballet Company’s performance. They learned a variety of songs and games through MusicplayOnline, the curriculum guide we use to reinforce these learnings.
