Visual Art
This video shows a piece of art from each student through August to December. We started off this term with a self-portrait reflecting on what the students thought they were good at. They created artwork based on well-known artists on the global stage. The students worked a lot with oil pastels and had fun getting their fingers dirty blending and shading. In the classroom we moved on to other colour options such as watercolour and tempera paint which the students enjoyed mixing to create their own palette. We revisited art vocabulary using terms such as: line and proportion, organic shapes, contrast, shading, blending and texture. The students created form in their clay animals and experimented with light and the rule of thirds in photography. We hope you enjoy our video of our 1st semester of Art Class.
Semester 2
Music
This term, students focused on reviewing previously learned note values such as the quarter, eighth and half notes and added sixteenth notes and a dotted quarter note, learning the Italian words for the different dynamics (the volume of music) and worked on improving their note reading skills with simple Boomwhacker songs and videos.
