Grade 7 Fine Art
Visual Art
Landscape pieces are one of five major genres found in art. There can be many styles of landscape art from realistic to abstract. These varied pieces were self-selected by students and studied through a series of ‘tryouts’. Part of the IB curriculum is to utilize this process of investigation to experiment with different techniques, then choose the best result for their resolved art piece.

Self Portraits
Portraiture, whether realistic or abstract, is one of five major genres found in art. These varied pieces hold one common thread, some form of profile or human form is the focus or emphasis of the piece. Students then self-selected visual symbols to convey their personal identity. They finished their work with some form of value (shading) whether in color or in graphite.

Music
Drama
This semester, students started with a review of the fundamentals of drama. They started with revising basic stage terminology and blocking followed by tableau work. Afterward, they began a speech unit which focused on how to use one’s voice to convey both character and emotion. Students exercised their vocal skills by presenting several scripted scenes in class and on stage in the BlackBox theatre. Afterward, they began a cross-curricular Drama and CTF video production unit. Students were tasked with filming a short documentary depicting a famous villain’s side of the story. In this project, in groups, students were required to write a script, create a storyboard, design costumes/props, film scenes and then edit the clips for a final product.
